Every thread tells a story of impact
Handcrafted with purpose. More than just design.
Drawing on years of experience in the organic craft sector, I’ve pioneered a systematic approach to collaborate directly with rural communities. This approach has a proven track record of success, demonstrably improving lives within our community through craft production.
At Dathonga, we transform ancestral techniques and local materials into beautiful, contemporary designs, directly impacting the lives of rural women artisans. In a world where traditional skills often disappear due to lack of market access, and where mass production often means exploitation, there’s a vital need for ethical alternatives that truly empower.
Your choice to buy Dathonga means you’re investing in tangible social change, ensuring fair livelihoods, preserving cultural heritage and supporting sustainable practices with every purchase. This isn’t just a claim; it’s our daily practice. We commit to transparent processes, empower women artisans with fair wages, and see communities thrive.

Our impact beyond products
Dathonga Consulting
Under my guidance, Dathonga Consulting was founded as a catalyst for positive change in rural communities. We work to improve the human condition by delivering practical, community-based solutions.
Dathonga Consulting specialises in rural development, with deep expertise in the craft sector. We take an entrepreneurial approach to livelihood diversification, implementing innovative solutions to address persistent challenges in remote areas. We are known for getting things done, especially in places where others won’t go.
Effective project coordination in rural environments requires skilled and committed local teams. At Dathonga we work closely with partners to unlock the value of local natural resources while encouraging new perspectives on the land and the communities who steward it. Our work is grounded in listening and learning.
Who we’ve worked with
A passion project
Preserving heritage, building futures
Through arts and crafts training and market access programmes, Dathonga helps preserve Mozambican artisanal heritage. We support intergenerational learning by designing community-based training programmes that celebrate cultural identity and pass down traditional techniques to younger generations.
Our comprehensive training equips artisans with the technical and business skills needed to produce high-quality, market-ready products. In doing so, we empower producers to create exquisite, competitive goods for local and global markets.
For me, designing social impact projects is a driving force. I actively volunteer when necessary with initiatives like the Makobo project, empowering refugees through craft creation.
