Where Mozambican creativity takes centre stage

A celebration of Mozambican creativity.

Step into Dathonga Cultural Hub, a vibrant and dynamic space nestled in the heart of Mozambique, where the rich tapestry of Mozambican artistic expression comes alive. More than just a gallery, Dathonga is a thriving community, a melting pot of talent, and a platform dedicated to showcasing the brilliance and diversity of Mozambican artists alongside select international voices.

While the monumental sculptures of the renowned Gonçalo Mabunda have garnered global acclaim, Dathonga champions a much wider spectrum of creativity. We proudly represent a diverse collective of Mozambican artists pushing boundaries and shaping contemporary art.

From the captivating strokes of fine art masters like Butcheca, Falcao, Nelsa Guambe, Chana de Sá, Ivan Nhapango, Lizzie Ana, Matomo, Azevedo and Antonio Costa, to the unique perspectives of international artists Bianca Venter (South Africa), Lili (Germany) and Onyinye Alheri (Nigeria), our exhibitions offer thought-provoking dialogues and visual feasts.

The air at Dathonga often vibrates with the infectious rhythms of Mozambican music. From the legendary sounds of Wazimbo and Chico António to the contemporary energy of Rodhalia and Dino Miranda, and the captivating traditional sounds of groups like Timbila Muzimba, ZORE and XIGUBO, our musical offerings are a journey through the soul of Mozambique. We also proudly feature collaborations and performances with artists like Pilani Bubu and Jeff Maluleke (South Africa) and Irish traditional bands, fostering cross-cultural musical experiences.
