The Sipatsi editions

Sipatsi is the basketry technique of the Tonga people of Inhambane. Its patterns are counted stitch by stitch from ancestral mathematics, so every piece carries a record of that knowledge.

Titja Editions

Coiled weaving is practised by women from southern Africa, from Angola to Mozambique: the Tsonga, Swati, Zulu, Subiya and Mbukushu peoples, among others, who hand-spin sisal thread (umtiye) around a rigid grass coil to create vessels known as a sitja (plural: titja).

Before you buy

Where do orders ship from?

Every piece ships directly from Mozambique. You’ll get a tracking number by email when it’s on its way. See the FAQ for delivery times.

Can I return my order?

International orders can’t be returned or exchanged. Orders within Mozambique may be exchanged within 7 days if unused with tags attached. Read the return and repair policy.

What if my piece arrives faulty?

Email sales@dathonga.com within 48 hours of delivery with your order number and photos, and we’ll repair or replace it.

Will every piece look exactly like the photo?

Each piece is handmade, so small differences in colour, pattern and size are natural and part of its character.

How do I look after it?

Keep it dry and out of strong sun, and wipe it with a soft, slightly damp cloth. Our use and care guide has more.
